Winter
01:16
|
|||
I haven't seen the sun since Sunday
I haven't seen my friends since then
I wish this room just had a window
To see outside every now and again
These four walls are closing in on me
The winter sun
Lights up the sky
The warmth that it conveys
Is something of a lie
When days are short
And nights are long
The air will cut your breath
And chill you to the bone
To the bone

The Floor
02:06
|
|||
Tell me something
Have you ever been
Around here by this place before
Have you sought the comfort
As I often sought
That can only be found on the floor
Where did I misplace the time
Why must it run why must it hide
Each time I step into the black
That missing time ain’t coming back
Tell me something
Have you ever been
Around here by this place before
Have you sought the comfort
As I often sought
That can only be found on the floor
If we can find solace
Something to console us
In such a wretched state of disgrace
If there’s a will there’s a way
A way out of this place
Out of this headspace
Out of this headspace

The Great Unknown
03:00
|
|||
The rules of the game have changed
The goal posts now rearranged
Disoriented, in a daze
The great unknown's a welcome place
Lay waste to all that stands
Create a blank slate
Make haste, start anew
And turn a new page
Begin - and end - begin - and end
When normalcy leaves a bad taste
A change in gears, a change in pace
A 180, an about face 'cause
The great unknown's a welcome place
No sense in fearing anything
Except for fear itself
But expect the unexpected
And the unforeseen as well
Embrace the perpendicular
over the parallel
And know that the greatest challenge
May be against yourself

Line of Sight
02:25
|
|||
Farewell, So long
When you can’t tell apart the right from wrong
It’s time to part ways from where you don’t belong
Right now feel like things are going to be alright
Everything’s now clear as day and night
Black and white
The fog’s lifted for a clear line of sight
Distinct, decline
Just walk away while there’s still time
You don’t want to be the canary in the coal mine

Only a Fool
02:14
|
|||
Only a fool
Will presuppose;
Will take for granted
That all of those
Pillars of support won't just fall like dominoes
Hold on to what you've got
Don't let it slip away
You're lucky and then you're not
Your world can change in a day
Only a fool
Would dare betray
The bond, the union;
The loyalty,
That which prevents a fall into disarray
Hold on to what you've got
Don't let it slip away
You're lucky and then you're not
Your world can change in a day
When trust is gone/ You've lost it all
When trust is gone/ You've lost it all
When trust is gone/ You've lost it all
You've lost it all/ lost it all/ lost it all/ lost it all
Yeah just a single misstep and you're in for quite a fall

A Moral Quandary
01:36
|
|||
Why don’t we always stake out the moral high ground
If it’s true that actions speak louder than words
How do we deal with the fallout – the consequences
In turn
Time now to look at the lesson learned here
Time now to give up on autonomy
Doesn’t this play into a culture of fear
Erosion of reason
A moral quandary
When we stand up for our personal freedom
The burden of proof is often out of reach
Must prepare ourselves to be disheartened, denigrated
In turn

Plaintes de bruit
02:17
|
|||
Je ne comprends pas les gens
Les osties d’innocents
Qui s’ostinent, qui font des plaintes de bruit
Si l’niveau de décibels
Te donne des ennuis
T’as pas vraiment d’affaire ici

Writing on the Wall
01:47
|
|||
I can see the writing on the wall
Its cryptic prose evades us all
I can’t stop the sky from falling
I can see it’s not my place
I can’t stop the sun from burning up, burning out,
Turning in (for the night)
I can hear voices carry in the wind
But the message is convoluted and won’t sink in
Who knows if time
Is on our side
So buckle in
Enjoy the ride
Because that time
Stops on a dime
Swallows you in

Alan Turing
01:33
|
|||
Alan Turing was a logician
Philosopher, mathematician,
Cryptanalyst with intuition
Up against the enigma machine
He cracked the code of the Nazis
Ensuring the Allied victory
Alan Turing was the creator
of an early predecessor
To the modern day computer
But rather than being commended
Respected and adulated
He was chemically castrated
Cause in '52 in the UK
It was illegal to be gay
And that meant he had to pay
In the absence of accolades
this bright light would fade
And take his own life away

So Far to Go
01:47
|
|||
We don't do most things right, in fact we get most wrong
And hurried plans take twice as long
But when we clear those walls and end up on the other side
We got so much more out of the ride
So far to go
We have come all this way but it is also true
We've stumbled most of the way through
And though we've been around, and seen a thing or two
There is just so much left to do
We have
So far to go

Shotgun Menard
04:02
|
|||
He started out a delinquent, a real piece of work
One night in his troubled youth; broke into a church
Pissed into holy water, drank communion wine
This wouldn’t be the last time the boy would cross the line
Age twelve he and a friend plotted to rob a bank
Plans were foiled, had his grandmother to thank
Hauled away in handcuffs, off to boarding school
Shaped up 'cause he got the strap
For breaking all the rules
Shotgun Menard
Eventually he chose to be a cop in '59
It wasn't long before his life was on the line
His rough and tumble style made him stick out from the pack
Moved to undercover he was on the fast track
Fireman's helmet and lots of fake IDs
He became a man of many identities
It's no wonder he was known as Crazy Bob
He brought down the boss
Of the local mob
Shotgun Menard
He lived a violent life, dealt brutal justice
to hardened criminals, when he shot he never missed
But one day the other guy wore a bulletproof vest
And Shotgun Menard took a bullet
A bullet to the chest
but still he said
I have no regrets and I’m not afraid
I have no regrets and I’m not afraid
I have no single regret
And I'm not afraid of dying
